After years of being afraid of oil paint, I finally gave it a shot. Greatly inspired by the works of John Singer Sargent, I wanted to embrace his famously loose but deliberate style, capturing the subject on canvas with as few brushstrokes as possible while making every single one purposeful. I painted her as I imagine my future daughter might one day be, and so *Evelyn in Indigo* was born.
